Deeper look at advertising

New week new topic -Advertising. In todays class, we took a deeper look at advertising.

What is advertising? It's all around us, we see hundreds of adverts a day on our social media pages, in newspapers, bus stops, on buses them selfs its everywhere. The techniques and practices used to bring products, services, opinions, or causes to public notice for the purpose of persuading the public to respond in a certain way toward what is advertised. Most advertising involves promoting a good that is for sale, but similar methods are used to encourage people to drive safely, to support various charities, or to vote for political candidates, among many other examples. In many countries advertising is the most important source of income for the media (e.g., newspapersmagazines, or television stations) through which it is conducted. In the noncommunist world advertising has become a large and important service industry.( Britannica)

Here are some examples of old adverts.

                                                                                                        Titanic

                                                                                        Tobacco advertising

Advertising went a long way. starting in a form of oral advertising it found the way new newspapers, posters, television, and radio. these days it is impossible to go a single day without seeing an advert.

                                                                                   New york time square

As we can see in the picture above New yorks time square being one the busiest place in the world is perfect for advertising as it engages with millions of people a day. This is one of the main goals of creating advert - reach. It's important that adverts are seen by as many people as possible. A second important thing we have to think about is an audience. Who are the people we want to engage with our advert. It's important to consider their age, sex, social status, etc.

                                                                                                Prada advert
Infusion D'iris by Prada Is using a young woman to set their buyers age range, Prada itself as a brand carries a lot of value its know to be expensive, elite. I think it's aimed at upper-middle-class young women who want to self-present as elegant and sexual.

                                                                                            Canon advertising

This is a creative advert by Canon. They came up with a very intelligent way to advertise their camera. The man with three legs taking a picture implies stability as if the camera was on a tripod.

Advertising become one of the most important concepts in our economy. Advertising is important for both new and existing businesses, as it helps to communicate important information to customers and is one of the first steps in building strong relationships. It raises awareness for different brands that are available in the market.
